APA’s Institute on Psychiatric Services: A Winning Experience

The prize drawings held in the Exhibit Hall at APA’s 1999 Institute on Psychiatric Services in New Orleans last month made attending the meeting that much more valuable. Raffle drawings for quality prizes were held each day in the Exhibit Hall.

Neil Pessin, Ph.D., of New York City was the winner of the grand prize—a notebook computer, which he is sure to use when he attends APA’s 2000 annual meeting in Philadelphia in the spring.

The prizes were made possible by an unrestricted grant from pharmaceutical company Hoechst Marion Roussel Inc. APA President Allan Tasman, M.D., and his wife, Cathy, along with Troy Thompson, M.D., chair of the Scientific Program Committee, enjoyed the fun of drawing the tickets and announcing the names of the winners.

Here is a list of the other winners and their prizes:

David H. Beyer Jr., M.D., of Waco, Tex.: dinner for two

C. Duane Burgess, M.D., of Hattiesburg, Miss.: free registration at APA’s 2000 annual meeting
