Free Passes to Holocaust Museum to Be Distributed

A special evening tour of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has been arranged by the Task Force on Local Arrangements for APA's 1999 annual meeting with a generous educational grant from Organon Inc.

This special tour will be held Tuesday, May 18, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Timed passes, which are required for entry, will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the Hospitality Booth on Sunday and Monday, May 16 and 17, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Holocaust museum continues to draw large numbers of visitors. Admission is free but passes are required to tour the permanent exhibits because of the limited number that can be accommodated at one time. It is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Those unable to take the evening tour may obtain passes to visit the museum during its regular hours in two ways: Same-day passes are distributed at the museum's box office at the 14th Street entrance beginning at 10 a.m.; tickets are often gone by 10:30 a.m., so visitors are encouraged to come early to avoid disappointment. Museum members receive pass priority if they arrive before 10 a.m. Membership information is available by writing to the museum at 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20024-2126 or visiting its Web site at .

Those willing to pay a small fee can order passes in advance of their visit by calling PROTIX at (800) 400-9373 or going to the PROTIX Web site at tickets.protix.com/.

The museum is located near the National Mall, a short walk from the Smithsonian stop on the Metrorail subway system.
