Take some time out from scientific sessions at the annual meeting for some much-needed relaxation by joining the Golfers of the APA (GAPA) at two tournaments being held at top golf courses in the Washington, D.C., area.
GAPA will holds its 35th annual tournament for its members on Monday, May 17, at the Norbeck Country Club in Bethesda, Md. Buses will depart from the Washington Convention Center at 7 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. Tee-off time is at 10 a.m.
The cost of the tournament is $135 for registrations received by March 31; after that date, the cost is $145. Registration at the annual meeting costs $150. The fee includes the GAPA dues of $10, continental breakfast, lunch, and an awards banquet.
The American Psychiatric Foundation will holds its third annual fund-raising tournament with GAPA on Tuesday, May 18, at the Augustine Golf Club in Stafford, Va.
This is an 18-hole, par 71 championship course rated by Golf magazine as one of the nation's "Top 100 Courses You Can Play." Golf Digest ranks the course ninth in the state of Virginia.
Players will have access to practice facilities, including a driving range and practice green.
Buses will depart from the Washington Convention Center at 5:30 a.m. to arrive at the course by 6:30 a.m. for registration, continental breakfast, and practice.
There will be a 7:15 a.m. shotgun tee-off for the Captain's Choice Tournament. After the tournament, there will be a luncheon and presentation of awards. The bus will return to the Washington Convention Center by mid-afternoon.
The registration fee for the event is $150 until March 20. After that date, the cost is $175, and on the day of the tournament, $200. There is an additional charge of $30 for club rental.
