Someone rained on my parade in Toronto. At the APA Art Association exhibit at the 1998 annual meeting, I displayed photo sculptures I had made of a small-town parade. Early Tuesday afternoon, about the time of our member meeting and awards ceremony, someone stole most of my photo sculptures off the wall. There were about 20 cutouts of fire engines, antique cars, and motorcycle riders from parades in Windsor and Hartland, Vt.
I will miss my photo sculptures. I had spent weeks searching through my photo archives until I had a large enough collection to bring the idea to fruition. I spent additional weeks mounting and cutting out the vehicles with a utility knife. If any reader sees the photos, please suggest that they be returned. Not only do I miss them very much, but also I will miss the trust I once had in sharing my creative spirit with my psychiatric colleagues and their families over the past 30 years in APA Art Association exhibits.
To the person(s) who stole my artwork: may it rain on your parade for your lifetime and in the hereafter. If you return my artwork, all is forgiven. I know you have a bit of a conscience because you left behind the cutout of the antique Vermont State Police car.
