Many APA members continue to prefer the format of continuing medical education (CME) courses to enhance their psychiatric knowledge base and clinical skills. One excellent source of such courses is APA's Institute on Psychiatric Services, which is once again offering a generous selection of courses on a wide range of topics taught by nationally recognized instructors.
The CME courses provide an in-depth review and update on the advances in specific clinical areas. Moreover, the courses offer an ideal opportunity to learn directly from experts and engage in discussions with faculty and course directors.
The institute's Subcommittee on Courses works throughout the year to compile a course roster combining the highest standards of teaching and topics of clinical relevance. The subcommittee's charge is to preserve APA's most popular courses taught by master instructors while updating the course curriculum to meet the need for new clinical skills.
To maintain the interactive atmosphere that has made the course format increasingly popular among participants, enrollment is limited. The number of participants for each course is predetermined on the basis of the topic and specific format of the course. The deadline for advance registration and enrollment is September 4. Because of the popularity of the CME courses, those interested in participating are urged to register as soon as possible.
The course fees are as follows: half day (four credit hours): advance $95, on site $120; full day (six credit hours): advance $140, and on site $165.
