Psychiatry residents will have a valuable opportunity in October to present their research at a national meeting sponsored by APA.
From October 2 to 6 APA will be hosting its 50th annual Institute on Psychiatric Services in Los Angeles. The institute will feature poster sessions that will make it easy for residents who are working on research projects to present their findings to a national audience. In the past, roughly 95 percent of all poster submissions were accepted at the institute.
Five poster sessions will be held (on October 3 and 4, and the morning of October 5). Residents will be able to attend the institute at a reduced registration fee of $50 by registering before September 4.
In addition to the poster sessions, the institute will present many other experiences of particular interest to residents, including several multimedia, videotape, and computer sessions; a residents-only "Meet the Experts" luncheon featuring nationally known faculty experts for informal consultation and networking; a residents-only welcoming reception; numerous clinical consultation sessions on a wide variety of topics in general and public psychiatry; and mentorship opportunities to residents new to the institute provided by APA/Bristol-Myers Squibb Fellows.
The institute will also feature an exhibit hall with prize drawings and receptions; industry-supported breakfast, lunch, and evening symposia; and a Monday evening extravaganza featuring a "Hooray for Hollywood" theme to celebrate the institute's Golden Anniversary.
Residents interested in submitting posters are asked to contact Jill Gruber, institute coordinator, at (202) 682-6314. The submission deadline is June 8.
