I find a classified advertisement that was published under the heading "Pennsylvania" in the February 6 issue seeking an "American-schooled" psychiatrist for a position somewhat disturbing. I wonder, for example, whether the sponsors of the ad really want a psychiatrist who has had an American residency, medical schooling, or college/high school education.

The wording in this ad did not conform to APA's advertising guidelines and was published in error. Subsequent to Dr. Ramchandani's complaint, the advertiser complied with the request to drop the criterion "American-schooled" from the ad. Psychiatric News regrets the error.
