1998 Annual Meeting

APA Auxiliary to Sponsor Special Workshop

Psychiatrist Pete Palasota, M.D., and his wife, Venie, will present their interpretation of the play "Love Letters" at APA's 1998 annual meeting in Toronto. Their performance is the centerpiece of a component workshop to be held Monday, June 1, at 11 a.m. After the performance, there will be an analytical interpretation and discussion of the play. The chairs of the session are Catherine Kirschner, president of the APA Auxiliary, and Elizabeth A. Reade, M.D.

"Love Letters" is a nationally acclaimed play whose tender and often hilarious love story is told through letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together and went their separate ways.

Pete Palasota, M.D., has served APA for many years. He is a director of the Psychiatrists' Benefit Corporation and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Psychiatrists' Purchasing Group Inc. He has devoted much of his career to serving the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians and APA's Area 5 and spent six years as an APA trustee. His wife, Venie, was instrumental in launching the APA Auxiliary and building it into an effective organization, and has served as president of both it and the Texas Psychiatric Physicians Society Auxiliary.

Both Palasotas have been active in the arts for many years. They previously presented "Love Letters" at APA's 1996 annual meeting in New York and have also performed in productions of "Fiddler on the Roof," "Guys and Dolls," "Zorba," "Man of La Mancha," "Death of a Salesman," and many more.
