1998 Annual Meeting
Enjoy a Night on the Town and Benefit a Good Cause

If you're looking for an exciting way to spend an evening while in Toronto, the American Psychiatric Foundation and the APA Auxiliary have the answer for you. Plus, you'll be benefiting the psychiatric community at the same time.

The two organizations are sponsoring "A Benefit Evening" on Saturday, May 30, at Toronto's magnificent Roy Thomson Hall. Proceeds from the event will go toward a grant to the Ontario District Branch to promote patient education about mental health care.

The evening begins with a gala reception at 5 p.m. For two hours you'll enjoy fine food and drink with your colleagues amid the dazzling mirror-and-glass walls of the Roy Thomson Hall's grand foyer.

The reception will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by a performance of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, also at Roy Thomson Hall. The concert will feature the works of the Finnish composer Sibelius. The 100-piece ensemble is under the artistic direction of Jukka-Pekka Saraste. Since being named the principal conductor in 1993, this youthful maestro has become somewhat of a "super celebrity" in Toronto.

Roy Thomson Hall is located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of all the hotels being used for the annual meeting. The concert hall in this architectural award-winning building has acoustical clarity so pure it has earned high praise from performers, audiences, and critics.

Tickets for each event are $50 per person, but tickets for both events can be purchased at the discounted cost of only $85.

For ticket information see the online form, call Barbara Matos of the American Psychiatric Foundation at (202) 682-6246 or send her an e-mail message.

Since these events benefit a charitable organization, part or most of the ticket cost may be tax deductible; check with your accountant for more information.

Both events are supported by a generous grant from GlaxoWellcome Inc.
