Subcommittee on Courses
Participants in the 1998 annual meeting in Toronto, which will be held May 30 to June 4, will be able to choose from 100 CME courses. The Subcommittee on Courses is proud once again to offer a broad educational program covering an array of clinical, research, and administrative topics.
Course faculty will present the most up-to-date information and its application to current clinical practice. Acknowledged masters will offer participants the opportunity to refresh traditional skills in interviewing and psychotherapy.
There will be 34 new courses, introducing new topics and new faculty. Topics include computers and the Internet, child and adult psychopharmacology, neuropsychiatry, behavioral and cognitive psychotherapies, managed care outcomes, and supervision.
The introduction of new courses, however, has not been at the expense of past favorites. Once again the program features the teachings of such leaders in the field as Drs. Coffey, Karasu, Kernberg, Masterson, Markowitz, Post, Resnick, Shea, and Steinberg.
CME courses provide an excellent opportunity for learning or honing the essential skills of the psychiatric profession and equip psychiatrists for the challenges of the future. Courses are designed to emphasize educational content and creative presentation, and provide ample opportunity for direct participant/faculty interaction. The quality of audiovisual aids, handouts, and references is carefully evaluated to ensure that they are both relevant and up to date.
The members of the Subcommittee on Courses are Deborah Spitz, M.D., Howard E. Book, M.D., Marian I. Butterfield, M.D., Andrew J. Cutler, M.D., and Myron L. Belfer, M.D. The subcommittee, along with CME Course Coordinator Vernetta V. Copeland, work hard to evaluate course submissions critically to provide an exceptional educational experience for all.
The subcommittee has continued its effort to restrict enrollment to maximize opportunities for participant/faculty interaction. Be sure to take advantage of the opportunity for early enrollment to avoid the disappointment of finding the courses you've seleted are already sold out. I look forward to seeing you in Toronto.
