Redirecting Focus
Dr. Anil Godbole's recent Viewpoints article titled "Manifesto for APA's New Leadership: We Need to Redirect Our Focus" makes sense to me. No matter what you call it (for example, my colleagues and I term our system the Professional Affiliation Group), psychiatrists need to learn to operate within multidisciplinary teams, under a budget, and as a part of larger, provider-sponsored, comprehensive medical systems. Carveouts then become irrelevant and so do their peculiar ideas about how to "use" psychiatrists.
