Important Seminar Coming Up

This column is provided as a service to the membership by the Psychiatrists' Purchasing Group Inc. (PPG), operator of the APA-sponsored Professional Liability Insurance Program.

The dynamic litigious climate in the psychiatric industry leaves me baffled. How can I ensure that I am kept abreast of the emerging risks in medical malpractice and protect myself from those risks?

You are not alone. In response to similar inquiries from other professionals, the APA-sponsored Professional Liability Insurance Program will be hosting a risk management seminar titled "Charting the Safest Course for Malpractice Prevention: Rx for the Therapist" November 14 to 16 at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Fla. The seminar will provide you with the tools to recognize risks of professional liability in psychiatric practice including the managed care environment, develop a plan to reduce liability exposure, and reduce practice-related stress and its consequences. The seminar will provide a wealth of information that every psychiatrist should know. For further information on this seminar, please call (900) 245-3333, ext. 324.

APA welcomes the opportunity to hear from you about APA-sponsored benefit programs. Send your questions on the APA insurance and special benefit programs to Benefacts, Psychiatric News, APA, 1000 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Va. 22209-3901.
