On behalf of the APA Alliance, I wish to thank the APA Board of Trustees for its decision to include the sponsorship of a new APA Alliance member or to renew a membership as a check-off item on APA’s annual dues statement. We applaud Thomas Allen, M.D., and Bruce Hershfield, M.D., of the Maryland Psychiatric Society, who coauthored the Assembly paper that led to this action. It has the potential to grow our membership significantly, which is so desperately necessary to strengthen and expand our programs.

I just had the opportunity to see APA’s annual dues statement and was delighted with the "Alliance for All" form and the check-off item for both the APA Alliance Sponsorship and the Elsa Barton Scholarship Fund. We are grateful to Kathleen Dempsey, APA’s chief operating officer; Susan Kuper, director of APA’s Office of Membership; and Fitzgerald Ferguson, a graphics artist in APA’s Division of Public Affairs, for their work on this project. It was a job very well done.

We celebrate this demonstration of support and recognition of the APA Alliance. In appreciation and with renewed commitment, we will continue to support the goals and work of APA.
