The APA Assembly voted at its May 12-14 meeting in Chicago to Elect Chicagoan Nada Stotland, M.D., as its next speaker-elect. Stotland, who just completed a year as the Assembly’s recorder, takes over the speaker-elect post from R. Michael Pearce, M.D., who began his speaker’s term at the close of the Assembly meeting. Stotland outpolled Katharyn Ouzts, M.D., of South Carolina, who is the deputy representative for the Caucus of Women Psychiatrists.

Albert Gaw, M.D., one of the representatives of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, will replace Stotland as Assembly recorder. Gaw defeated Los Angeles psychiatrist Peter Gruenberg, M.D., a representative of the Southern California Psychiatric Society, in the recorder contest.
